No spin.  No glitz.  Just straight talk.  Greatly improving driving and the driving experience is the only purpose of Straight Talk on Driving and The Helios Institute. Both are completely independent and honest.  Their only point of view is the one mandated by driving’s own intrinsic logic, and both are dedicated to everyone who loves driving. They are the rational alternatives to the driving myths, wives’ tales, meaningless slogans, and plain nonsense that have confused and endangered us for roughly a century.

Behind the wheel, we all want safety, efficient traffic flow, and driving pleasure.  Each of these results primarily from good driving practices.  My objective is to discover and share those practices.

Much, if not all, of what you’ll find here directly challenges everything we’ve been taught about driving, so this should be an exhilarating ride.  Get in.  Buckle-up.  Hang-on.  Think critically.  Have fun.  And with every future trip, let’s make the world a better place by how we drive through it!
