Driver Ed. Mumbo Jumbo

Long ago, people believed the Earth was flat.  Today we dismiss that belief as absurd.  We know the truth.  The people who believed it though were not simpletons or dupes.  They were competent, even accomplished and respected citizens.

Surgeons treated diseases by bleeding people and scoffed at the very idea of germs.  Philosophers engaged in earnest debates about how many angels could dance on the head of a pin.  Trials by ordeal were actually believed to prove the guilt or innocence of persons accused.  “Witches” were burned to death.  People who spoke out against those atrocities were labeled freethinkers – dangers to the community.  If they persisted in their “unwholesome” behavior, they might be burned alive too.

For much of the twentieth century, high school driver education was prescribed by our leaders and widely accepted as a good thing.  It is still accepted and even respected despite the FACT that it has never worked.  It has never worked because its content, method, psychology, and philosophy are wrong.

But now, the truth is known.  The breakthroughs have been made.  There is no longer any need to operate in ignorance.  In the twenty-first century we can finally replace traditional high school driver education’s mumbo jumbo with genuine education for driving.
