Driver Education Unsuitable for Teens

It is well known that, as a group, teen-aged drivers have the worst safety record.  Not only are they involved in a disproportionately large number of crashes, they cause a disproportionately large number of crashes.

Driver education’s remedy is, and always has been, to teach teens to drive defensively.  Teach the people who cause the crashes to drive defensively?  That is like teaching tornadoes to defend themselves against mobile-home parks.
